SONIK
MAKES WAVES IN LOCAL MUSIC
March 2005 -- Sonik Magazine has been in the valley’s
publications forefront since its inception in 2001.
Throughout the years Sonik has responded to its readers
and the growth of the valley. Today is no exception.
The valley enjoys a strong musically talented culture
that sometimes does not get the credit it deserves.
This can be seen through the multitude of now national
bands stemming from here in the valley (Jimmy Eat World,
The Format, The Gin Blossoms, Authority Zero, Chronic
Future). The future musical sensations and talent here
need a stronger voice. Sonik will provide that voice.
With now so many choices in the realm of local full
color periodicals, Sonik is honing its niche to encompass
wholly music and entertainment. Sonik’s approach
to its new format will focus on including experts in
the local music community and partnerships with those
promoting the world of music to the general public.
Sonik is no newcomer to the entertainment and music
industry. Since its inception Sonik has designed and
hosted over 200 events at the valley’s hottest
spots including Myst, Martini Ranch, Elixir, Pussycat
Lounge, Margarita Rocks, The Icehouse, etc. Our readers
have received inside information and first looks at
Hollywood, most recently, through our exclusive interviews
with the director of Saw and Jamie Kennedy. Sonik has
brought underground and electronic music’s most
famous deejays to the public’s eye with exclusive
interviews from Bad Boy Bill, Tiesto, LTJ Bukem, BT,
Crystal Method, Aphrodite, and Sasha and Digweed. The
magazine interviewed Jurassic 5, Flogging Molly, the
creator of the Warped Tour, Linkin Park, Jimmy Eat World,
etc.
Sonik’s focus to design, layout, photography and
editorials is second to none. Through our transition
we will continue to bring our readers a “national
magazine’s caliber” with a look and feel
that local lover’s of music and entertainment
appreciate. Our new layout will introduce some unique
sections. Sonik will offer local and national music
review and news section titled “Just In! Music”,
an insider industry view on upcoming trends and predictions,
titled “Plugged In”, a goods and gadgets
section highlighting technology, a monthly concert or
venue review from two opposing parties titled, “He
Said, She Said”, a listing of djs and bands named
“The Red Pages”, a listing of venues, bars
and clubs called “The Blue Pages” and a
calendar to preview concerts and promotions.
Sonik will remain a free publication to the public.
A noteworthy change in distribution and the magazine
includes increase in number of copies, a change of publication
size and inclusion of the west valley and Tucson. Outlets
will include music venues during show nights, record
store, Universities, bars/clubs, tattooing parlors and
select retail locations.
